2020 Roster
Liz Barnes
Liz was first introduced to ultimate in her home town, Cleveland, TN, where 10 v 10 pickup games were the norm. She moved to Chattanooga in 2014 to attend UTC where she revived and captained the UTC Women's Ultimate team (Moxie). She moved to Nashville in 2019 to immerse herself in the ultimate community. It may be difficult to spot Liz, due to her imposing 5'1" stature; look for the girl who is always dancing.
Lauren Bryant
Lauren has played ultimate for 9 years and started playing at the University of Alabama. She is an electrical engineer and enjoys traveling in her free time. She also enjoys running and hiking with her dog Maddie.
Lizzie Carsello
Lizzie is a college student studying philosophy and economics at Vanderbilt University. She interns at Vanderbilt's Women's Center and works in a research lab investigating inequity in sport. She started playing ultimate in 2015 with Vanderbilt VUDU (who she absolutely adores) and has played with various club teams since then, including her hometown team, Fiasco Ultimate, in South Florida.
Audrey Cheng
Audrey moved to Nashville for work last year after finishing undergrad. One fun fact about her is that if she gets stressed about a show’s plotline, she’ll google and read the entire storyline for spoilers as she watches.
Meaghan Creamer
Meaghan is originally from Syracuse, NY and started playing open ultimate her sophomore year at Providence College in Rhode Island. During Meaghan’s senior year she started and captained the Womens Ultimate team (PC WULTY) which still exists today! In 2016 Meaghan had her first club experience with Providence Mob (2016) and played the past two summers with Nashville ‘Shine. When Meaghan is not running around she is probably at a concert screaming lyrics she only half knows or in total relaxation with all the candles in her home lit (partial to lavender).
Kristine Fedorenko
Kristine Fedorenko was introduced to ultimate by her older brother in 2010. She played college ultimate at Auburn University and has played for Birmingham, Atlanta, and Auburn Alumni club teams. Kristine lives in Nashville and works for a wildlife nonprofit.
Kayla Ferguson
Kayla has been playing ultimate for the past 8 years including the competitive women's teams of DeSoto and Encore and the Trash Pandas mixed team out of Nashville. Outside of ultimate, she is a transportation engineer, wife, and mother to Mila and her two dogs Izzy and Linus.
Kelsey Foster
Kelsey is a Knoxville native who recently moved to Nashville for her new role in customer development with Pepsi. Her club frisbee career has consisted of playing for Nooga by Nature, Encore, Steel, and Shine. Kelsey is a competitive athlete who enjoys to play any sport.
Kelsey Henderson
Kelsey has been playing ultimate for 7 years. She got her start playing with BOS at the University of Tennessee for 4 years, and then spent her 5th year of eligibility with Fever at the Ohio State University. Kelsey works in Franklin, TN as a wastewater design engineer - in other words, she literally knows her s#&t. In her free time, she crochets, reads, and starts lots of crafts that *sometimes* get finished. Kelsey looks forward to playing her favorite sport among strong, amazing women this season.
Julie Hilton
Julie started her ultimate career as a freshman in college with the Belmont boys frisbee team. Soon after, she started Belmont’s first women’s team and still coaches them today. In her spare time she loves riding bikes and being outdoors with her fiancé and friends.
Noel Holmes
Noel is a South Carolina native going on her 11th year playing ultimate! She played, captained and was president for Scorch Ultimate at the University of South Carolina. She played mixed and women's club for 6 years and counting. In her spare time, she co-coaches VUDU (Vanderbilt University Women) and has captained for her club team, 'Shine and local Nashville Ultimate League teams. When Noel is not on the ultimate field, she is most likely hiking with her pup, traveling, or trying to find the next best brunch spot on the weekends.
Lindsey Kappen
Lindsey has been playing Ultimate since 2010. She played college with Michigan State University for 5 years. After college she moved to Texas where she played two seasons with DFW's mixed club team Public Enemy. She recently moved to Georgia which is what has brought her to NightShade. When she isn't playing ultimate she's either teaching kids about science or spending time in the mountains with her dog Papaya.
Mia Letterie
Mia grew up rowing in Seattle, WA and started playing ultimate her freshman year at Whitman College. After graduation, she moved to Nashville, TN to work at Vanderbilt University researching infant neural and behavioral development. Mia has come to love Nashville and is excited to be playing with NightShade again this season. When she's not playing frisbee, you can find her reading or trying new restaurants.
Sofia Lima
Where's Sofia? Probably off at a light twerking sesh¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Don't try to contact her directly cause she never has her phone, just living in the moment. Ask her about her tinder bio though. She's been playing frisbee since high school and she could have gone D1 if she didn't dislocate her vibes. If you asked her to enter a talent show she would just get up on stage, braid her own hair, and demonstrate how quickly she can fall asleep after going horizontal. cheers xo
Michaela Loar
One of Michaela's first memories is being held up Simba-style in a huddle at one of her dad's ultimate tournaments, which led her to begin playing at Clemson University (Tiger Lilies) in 2015. She helped lead the Lilies to their all-time best regional finishes. Since graduating from Clemson, she moved to Nashville to start her career as an Electrical Engineer. In her free time, she loves to cuddle with her perfect pup, Stanley, drink wine, and eat ramen.
Jessica Martinez
Jessica came to Nashville four years ago from the Northern Virginia suburbs of D.C. to study filmmaking and theatre at Belmont University, where she is now in her final semester of undergrad. Her sports background centers around soccer and basketball, but she enjoys climbing and other sports as well. She has played one season with the Belmont womxn's and mixed teams (Fall 2018) and one season of club with the Trash Pandas (Summer 2019).
Hanna McClain
Hanna first started playing ultimate her senior year of high school and developed a love for the sport that led her to captain at the University of Tennessee for two years. She has been involved in the Knoxville ultimate community for several years by participating in year-round leagues and on mixed club teams such as sKNO Cone. Once she graduates this May, she will attend grad school for occupational therapy. Outside of ultimate, Hanna enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, and going to breweries.
Angel Mobley
Angel ran both cross country and track at UAH. She has also played with different leagues and club teams since 2012.
Ginger Price
Ginger has spent most of her ultimate career playing in Florida where she grew up. She is currently finishing up grad school to become a Physical Therapist. When she isn't studying she enjoys any outdoor activity such as spikeball, beach volleyball, hiking, etc. She is looking forward to playing for the Nashville Nightshade for a second season.
Margie Quinn
Margie Quinn is a Nashville native who was first dragged to a frisbee practice by local legend Alison Douglas during her freshman year of high school. Margie hasn’t stopped playing since. Margie has loved her time on USN’s Brutal Grassburn, UGA’s Dawgma, Seattle Underground, Toro and (most importantly) her Turkey Tourney team, Socket. When Margie isn’t frizzin, she’s playing guitar, reading classic fiction and serving as a bonafide church lady.
Alyssa Raspa
Allyssa is currently working in Nashville at a personal injury firm, and aspiring to continue to law school this year. Coming from UTC Moxie, she is eager to take on a more competitive ultimate atmosphere. Cooking is also one of her main hobbies outside of ultimate frisbee.
Mariana Rodríguez
Mariana was introduced to ultimate in the Spring of 2011. Her club experience includes playing for DeSoto, including one Nationals appearance (2011), Old #7, including a second place finish at mixed masters nationals (2018), and 'Shine. Mariana played on the inaugural 2018 NightShade team and is super stoked to be a captain for the 2019 squad. In addition to her love for ultimate, Mariana is passionate about rock climbing, hiking, and all things outdoors. She is originally from Caracas, Venezuela but has called Nashville home for 10 years.
Catherine Spencer
Catherine played 6 seasons for Auburn Tiger lilies/Nova and the last 4 season with Birmingham Steel in club. She has a Master’s in Civil Engineering with aspirations of getting a PE. Catherine enjoys hiking, backpacking, and hunting. But most of all she loves dunking cookies into coffee :).
Nettie Stanfield
Nettie has been playing ultimate for around 4 years. She’s played in high school, club, rec leagues, coached a bit, and played in PUL last year. Nettie is in school at Johnson University, majoring in English, and enjoys writing stories.
Colleen Callaghan Wright
Colleen grew up in a suburb of Nashville and learned to play ultimate in 2002. She went on to play varsity soccer at Rhodes College before playing DeSoto/Encore for eight seasons, captaining the team to one Nationals appearance.
Colleen serves as the Vice President of the Premier Ultimate League and President of the Nightshade organization for her second season. She lives in Nashville with her husband, Jake Wright. In her free time, she loves making homemade bread, wakesurfing, and doing home renovations. Colleen is a fierce competitor who was destined to play ultimate with a maiden name of Callaghan (pronounced Callahan).
Ellen Yu
Ellen Yu is a sophomore at Vanderbilt University studying Biology. After graduation she plans on attending veterinary school. She began playing frisbee in middle school and won two national championships with the NC Warhawks. She currently plays for Vanderbilt’s women’s team VUDU. She is looking forward to playing in her third professional season of womxn’s ultimate and is excited to continue increasing womxn representation in sports.
